Light of God’s Word

The Psalmist says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105). This expresses our conviction as far as God’s Word is concerned. It is therefore our goal to build a treasure house of Biblical truth for the seekers the Lord will bring to this site!

Verse of the Week:

…casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” ( 1 Peter 5:7, NASB)

Commentary & Prayer on this Week’s Verse:

Today, I read an article by Rick Warren based on his best-seller, The Purpose-Driven Life. The article in its entirety is found at this link:

While making reference to Philippians 4:6, Rick encourages us to begin praying about everything. He says, “Don’t just pray about religious things. Most people, when they pray, pray prayers they think God wants to hear. Pray about everything. If it’s big enough to worry about, it’s big enough to pray about.” Two cross-references,  Psalm 55:22 and Matthew 6:25, to this week’s verse call us to commit all things to the Lord in prayer.

We therefore need to heed what God’s Word says in 1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”  “Cast,” in this verse, means to unload, let it go. The Greek word literally means drop. Unload it. Thankfully, we can cast all our questions, worries, concerns, heartaches, etc, on Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, You know all my weaknesses in several areas of my life: lack of self-confidence, inconsistency, indecisiveness, and fearfulness. Please help me deal with each one of them by internalizing your Word in my heart.  I now cast all my weaknesses and worries on you. I ask that you fill me afresh with your Spirit, and give me self-control that I might glorify you in all I think, say and do. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN.”
